Executive Director, University Communications An outstanding opportunity for a proven communications professional, the Executive Director will serve as Washington State University's chief communications officer and report directly to the university?s president. Working with other university communications and marketing professionals, the person in this position will collaborate in the development of communications strategies in support of the university?s mission of research, education, economic development, and outreach, and provide communications counsel to senior leadership. The Executive Director will plan, direct, and manage strategic communications, public relations, media relations, crisis management, internal communications, and the award-winning Washington State Magazine . This position also will act as the chief communications officer for the Office of the President and prepare content for presidential communications. Due to the Executive Director?s need to engage and interact with other university communicators and marketers throughout the WSU system, the job requires well-honed skills in leadership and teamwork. Practical and management experience in all aspects of public relations and a working understanding of all media ? including social and emerging media ? are required. Headquartered in Pullman, Washington, this position will oversee a team of 15+ communications professionals. Excellent writing and public-speaking skills are a must.
